When choosing a Squarespace template, we recommend thoroughly looking at all of the template live demos and thinking about:

1. Which template would work best for your content

2. Which template would you have to do the least amount of work to?

3. Which template do you just prefer visually?

Remember that all of the template elements can be moved and tweaked. You can change colors, logos, fonts, all text, you can really make one of these your own!

The trick is to choose by thinking about what you want your end website to look like and which template that will work with best, rather than choosing by colors, images and overall "vibes" as this can all be changed (though, doesn't have to be changed!)

Remember to think about which specific pages or features you want included in your website, such as a blog, sales page, services page, or portfolio, as different website templates have different pages included. You can of course create as many new pages as you like or change existing template pages to fit with what you need on your website.

We have website templates tailored to particular industries like photographers, service based businesses, and bloggers, but if you don't find a template designed specifically for your business type, our templates are are totally customizable and can be tailored to cover most industries with just a few tweaks!

No problem! You can have more than one website within your Squarespace account.

When you purchase a template, it will be added as a completely separate website inside your Squarespace dashboard — right alongside your existing site.

If you'd like to use content from your current website, you'll need to manually transfer it into the new template.

You'll also need to move your domain to your new website and purchase a new Squarespace subscription for the new site.

(If you still have time left on your current subscription, we recommend reaching out to Squarespace support — they’re usually happy to offer a prorated refund when you switch sites.)

We also offer template install packages!

With this service, we'll add the new template pages into the Not Linked section of your current site. Your domain and subscription stay exactly where they are — no need to start over.

Please note: Template installation doesn’t include customization, so you’ll still need to add your own content (like text and images) to the new pages.

We encourage you to use the template as a starting point, but have fun making it your own!

Your Squarespace template comes with a 6 month free trial, giving you plenty of time to work on your site!

When you’re ready to launch or when your trial ends (whichever comes first), you’ll need to purchase a Squarespace subscription for your website.

The subscription plan you choose depends on the features you need.

For example:

• Business Plan: For basic features like adding a simple shop.

• Commerce Plan or above: If you need advanced e-commerce features for a more complex shop.

Already have a Squarespace site?

If you’re moving your content to your new template, you’ll need to purchase a new subscription for the template website, as Squarespace subscriptions can’t be transferred between sites. (For more info, check out our "What if I already have a Squarespace website?" FAQ.)

You’ll also need a domain (URL) for your site. Domains typically cost between $10–$40 per year, but this can vary depending on the domain name.

You can purchase your domain directly through Squarespace or through a third-party provider like GoDaddy or NameCheap.

Already have a domain? No problem! You can easily transfer it to your new template site when you're ready to publish.

Pro tip!

If you purchase a yearly Squarespace subscription, you might be eligible for a free domain!

Nope! You won’t need to write any code or use custom CSS to build your website.

All of our Squarespace templates are designed to be DIY-friendly, using built-in Squarespace features, so everything can be customized without needing to code (unless you want to!).

Every now and then, we might add a small snippet of code to make the template look even better. If that happens, don’t worry — the code will already be implemented, and we’ll provide instructions on how it works and how to tweak it to match your branding.

If you’re not comfortable with the code, you can leave it as is or remove it entirely — the changes are minimal!

Feel free to add your own custom code if you want to take your website to the next level.
